The financing package, backed by a consortium of healthcare investors, includes upfront proceeds of $15 million, with potential for an additional $34 million through the exercise of Series A and Series B warrants. CalciMedica Raises $49 Million to Advance Pulmonary Hypertension Drugs
CalciMedica has secured approximately $49 million in a private placement financing to accelerate its pulmonary hypertension pipeline. The La Jolla-based biopharmaceutical firm intends to use the capital to fund a Phase 1b study of its intravenous drug Auxora and move its oral candidate, CM5480, toward clinical trials.
CEO Rachel Leheny stated that the investment validates the company's focus on treating the right ventricular dysfunction that drives mortality in pulmonary hypertension patients. Current clinical efforts center on a proof-of-concept study for Auxora, with data expected by mid-2027. Simultaneously, the company is preparing for IND clearance for CM5480, an oral inhibitor designed to address both pulmonary vascular resistance and cardiac remodeling. CalciMedica has previously evaluated Auxora in over 350 patients across various indications, reporting that recent safety reviews cleared the drug for continued clinical development.
