Oversonic Robotics Secures New Backing to Scale Humanoid Production

Italian cognitive robotics firm Oversonic Robotics has brought STMicroelectronics, Fondazione ENEA Tech Biomedical, and SpotInvest into its share capital. This strategic investment aims to accelerate the industrial development of RoBee, the company’s certified humanoid robot, while fueling an aggressive expansion into the United States healthcare and manufacturing markets.

The influx of capital marks a transition for the Brianza-based company, which has spent the last six years developing RoBee as a platform capable of interacting with humans in complex environments. By integrating these new partners, Oversonic intends to move beyond experimental trials, scaling its manufacturing capacity to meet demand in sectors ranging from factory automation to medical support. STMicroelectronics, a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing, plans to leverage its industrial expertise to refine the robot's technological core, while Fondazione ENEA Tech Biomedical will focus on the specific certification and application requirements necessary for healthcare deployment. Marco Setti’s SpotInvest adds further reach into the food and service automation sectors. These new shareholders join an existing roster of backers including Comat, Datalogic, and the Cysero fund. For company leadership, the move is critical to establishing a foothold in the U.S. market, where Oversonic has already opened offices in Cincinnati and Los Angeles. The goal is to evolve from a specialized scale-up into a global player in cognitive robotics, positioning RoBee as an infrastructure-level solution rather than a prototype. With a multidisciplinary team of 70 professionals, Oversonic is currently prioritizing the integration of artificial intelligence systems that allow its robots to operate safely alongside human operators in real-world settings.
