The latest investment round saw participation from EverGreen, the NVIDIA Alumni Investment Network, and SparkLabs Group. These backers are betting on the company’s push to move artificial intelligence beyond terrestrial data centers and into orbital environments, where demand for autonomous computing is rising alongside the proliferation of satellite constellations.
Sophia Space Secures $7 Million to Scale Autonomous Orbital Computing
Pasadena-based Sophia Space has closed a $7 million SAFE financing round, pushing the startup's total capital raised to $22 million. The company, which builds AI infrastructure for the space sector, plans to use the infusion to scale its engineering teams and expand deployments across international and government markets.

CEO Rob DeMillo noted that the capital arrives as industry initiatives like Golden Dome force a shift in how space assets are managed. Instead of retrofitting Earth-based architectures, Sophia Space is designing modular, AI-optimized hardware from the ground up. Jeff Brown, a founding partner at EverGreen, highlighted that this approach requires specialized expertise across the high-performance computing stack, which his network intends to provide as the firm reaches its next technical milestones.
