Oak Valley Health shifts imaging operations to Sectra cloud platform

Ontario’s Oak Valley Health has finalized a five-year agreement to transition its diagnostic imaging services to the Sectra One Cloud platform. The move aims to centralize radiology and breast imaging data for the Markham Stouffville Hospital, Uxbridge Hospital, and Reactivation Care Centre, which collectively manage 480,000 patient exams annually.

By migrating to a fully managed cloud service, the health system intends to reduce the technical burden on internal IT teams who previously handled system upgrades and manual support. The platform consolidates imaging workflows into a single environment, intended to improve diagnostic consistency across the organization's multiple sites. Jean Nash, Director of Diagnostic Services at Oak Valley Health, noted that the unified approach provides the scalability needed to integrate additional clinical specialties as the health system’s requirements evolve.

Beyond clinical efficiency, the transition serves as a defensive measure against rising cybersecurity threats. Nader Soltani, President of Sectra in Canada, stated that the platform is designed to protect patient data while streamlining the technical infrastructure. The contract, signed during the final quarter of Sectra’s 2025/2026 fiscal year, covers an expected volume of 250,000 imaging exams annually, marking a significant shift in how the Ontario-based organization handles its diagnostic data lifecycle.
