Taylor took the helm of the New York-based real estate investment trust in 2016, overseeing the company’s evolution into a premier owner and operator of open-air retail centers. Under his tenure, Brixmor gained recognition for its focus on strong governance and its ability to maintain high-performing teams across its national portfolio. Current CEO and President Brian T. Finnegan credited his predecessor with an ability to simplify complex business challenges, noting that Taylor maintained a deep personal investment in the firm’s success even after his departure from the executive suite.

Board Chair Sheryl M. Crosland, who worked alongside Taylor for three decades within the industry, highlighted his emphasis on human connection, describing his management style as one defined by authenticity and empathy. Taylor is survived by his wife, Alice, and his daughters, Gracie and Mary Lyle. The company currently manages a portfolio of 344 retail centers across the United States, a footprint largely shaped by the strategic positioning Taylor championed during his nine-year leadership.
