Co-led by Bezos and former Verily executive Vik Bajaj, the startup currently employs 150 people tasked with building tools that could transform sectors ranging from pharmaceutical drug discovery to advanced robotics. The objective is to provide a computational backbone for complex engineering, effectively digitizing the creative and technical workflows required to manufacture sophisticated hardware.
Jeff Bezos Unveils Prometheus and the Rise of the Artificial Engineer
With a fresh $12 billion in funding and a $41 billion valuation, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is pivoting his focus toward Prometheus, a startup aiming to automate the design of physical products. The venture seeks to move beyond standard software AI by creating what Bezos calls an artificial general engineer.

Bezos points to his own aerospace company, Blue Origin, as the primary beneficiary of this technology. By deploying AI to assist in the intricate design of rocket engines and other high-precision machinery, Prometheus intends to shorten development cycles for industries that rely on heavy physical infrastructure. The startup is positioning itself not just as a developer of algorithms, but as a fundamental architect for the next generation of industrial manufacturing.
