Google TV integrates Gemini for generative media and voice control

Owners of select TCL televisions will soon command their living room experience through Gemini, as Google rolls out an update featuring generative video tools and intuitive voice-activated settings. The integration aims to move the AI beyond simple search, turning the television into an interactive hub for media creation and display management.

The update introduces Nano Banana and Veo support, enabling users to generate images and video clips directly on the big screen. Beyond creative output, Gemini can now query Google Photos to curate stylized slideshows based on specific events. Responses are shifting toward a more visual format, offering real-time sports updates and narrated deep dives into selected topics.

Functionality extends to the hardware level, as users gain the ability to adjust picture and audio settings through natural language. Simple commands like requesting volume increases during quiet dialogue or brightening a dim screen allow the assistant to modify display configurations in real time. Google plans to expand these features to additional Google TV devices in the coming months following the initial TCL rollout.
