The company notified preorder customers that the haptic trackpad, manufactured in partnership with Lite-On and Boréas, suffered from an electrical grounding flaw that caused the device to reset during repetitive use. While firmware adjustments were initially considered, Framework opted to halt production to implement a new circuit board design. Validation testing, including 200,000 sequential clicks, is currently underway to ensure the new hardware meets reliability standards.
Framework Laptop 13 Pro shipments delayed by hardware issues
Customers expecting the new Framework Laptop 13 Pro will face a one-month wait as the company pushes its initial June launch into July. The delay stems from technical faults identified in the laptop's haptic trackpad and custom display, forcing a redesign of key internal components before mass production can proceed.

Simultaneously, a display initialization bug discovered during the production ramp-up with supplier CSOT necessitated a firmware update for the laptop’s custom screen. These hardware hurdles mean that first-batch shipments now target late July, with potential for some units to slip into early August. Customers whose orders are scheduled for later batches may see their delivery dates pushed into September. Framework has confirmed that standalone Intel Core Ultra Series 3 Mainboards remain on schedule for June, though the delay in full-system reviews will leave early mainboard adopters without comprehensive performance benchmarks until July. Those dissatisfied with the revised timeline may cancel their preorders for a full refund.
