Google Translate Opens Real-Time Audio to Third-Party Headphones
The exclusive grip of Pixel Buds on Google Translate’s live speech features has ended. Starting today, Android users can stream real-time translations directly into any pair of headphones, bypassing the hardware lock that has defined similar experiences, such as Apple’s proprietary integration with AirPods.
Google is also scaling its Practice feature, which functions as an AI-driven tutor for vocabulary and listening skills. Currently expanding into 20 additional countries, the tool adapts to a user’s specific proficiency level. While live speech-to-speech functionality begins its journey in the US, Mexico, and India, the company confirmed plans to port the capability to iOS devices by next year.
