The five-day exhibition, which runs through October 18, serves as a primary vehicle for the Ministry of Trade’s strategy to shift from raw material reliance to high-value exports. Trade Minister Budi Santoso confirmed that buyers from 134 countries have registered, with 168 memoranda of understanding slated for signing immediately. The event highlights a broad spectrum of Indonesian output, ranging from agricultural goods and textiles to specialized industrial estates.
Trade Expo Indonesia Targets $17.5 Billion in Global Transactions
Coordinating Minister Bahlil Lahadalia opened the 41st Trade Expo Indonesia in Tangerang this week, signaling a sharp pivot toward industrial downstreaming. With 1,873 exhibitors gathered at ICE BSD City, the government aims to leverage the country’s natural resources to anchor a new era of export-led economic resilience.

Beyond immediate transactions, the Ministry is actively pursuing long-term market access. Budi noted that 25 trade agreements are already operational, with another 13 currently under negotiation. To sustain this momentum, the government is leaning on non-traditional markets in South Asia and Africa, while simultaneously fostering domestic capacity through the 'Desa BISA Ekspor' program and university-led 'Campuspreneur' initiatives. Supported by partners including Pertamina and Bank Mandiri, the expo acts as a central hub for connecting local entrepreneurs with global supply chains.
