The summit featured a diverse curriculum ranging from the practical application of artificial intelligence in patient communication to evidence-based lifestyle interventions. Experts including Dr. Mark Moyad and Alison Sachs led sessions designed to bridge the gap between medical research and community-level support. Participants attended workshops on health equity, boundary-setting for caregivers, and strategies for measuring the impact of peer-led support networks.
ZERO Prostate Cancer Expands National Network for Patient Mentors
More than 100 advocates and support group leaders gathered in Minneapolis this August for the fifth annual ZERO Prostate Cancer training summit. The two-day event focused on equipping volunteers with clinical insights and emotional wellness strategies to better serve patients navigating the complexities of a prostate cancer diagnosis.

Corporate partners, including Pfizer, Novartis, AstraZeneca, and Sanofi, provided the backing necessary to host the intensive sessions. For ZERO Prostate Cancer, the training represents a strategic investment in the volunteers who serve as the organization's frontline. CEO Courtney Bugler emphasized that these leaders act as the backbone of the patient community, providing essential guidance during the most challenging phases of the treatment journey. As the organization approaches its 30th year, the focus remains on expanding this volunteer reach to ensure that no patient faces their diagnosis without access to informed, culturally competent support.
