Global Charity Crisis: Demand Outstrips Resources
Two-thirds of charities worldwide report a sharp rise in demand for their services over the past year, leaving nearly half of these organizations struggling to cope. According to new research from the Charities Aid Foundation, the pressure is forcing many to implement waitlists and drain financial reserves.
Financial sustainability remains the primary obstacle for 61% of leaders. While 37% have attempted to diversify income streams, the lack of a stable financial floor has led a third of organizations to exhaust their savings. Furthermore, one in four charities has resorted to downsizing staff to remain operational. Only 37% of respondents feel equipped to handle the challenges of the next three years, with providers of critical services expressing the highest levels of pessimism regarding their long-term viability.
