The Westin Los Angeles Airport hosted the inaugural Hozpitality's Best GM Powerlist on August 28, marking the group’s expansion from the Middle East and India into the U.S. market. The evening kicked off with a panel discussion moderated by Gateway LA’s Tajh Henderson, focusing on the shifting landscape of tourism and the operational challenges facing hotels over the next five years. Participants included executives from the San Francisco Travel Association and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, who examined how changing traveler expectations are forcing a rethink of investment and management strategies.

Following the discussion, the group unveiled its 30-member Powerlist, a selection determined by online industry voting. The list features leaders from major properties, including Alfonso Torres of Sonesta Redondo Beach & Marina and Offer Nissenbaum of The Peninsula Beverly Hills. Javier Cano, Area General Manager for The Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE, received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his long-standing contributions to the local market.

Beyond the primary honorees, the organization recognized 10 additional managers as Commended General Managers to highlight broader regional talent. According to CEO Raj Bhatt, this California launch is the first step in a larger American rollout, with plans already underway for a Florida edition. The group intends to keep the momentum going with a Women Leadership Forum scheduled for October 7 at the Cameo Beverly Hills.
