Wimbledon Brings Authentic Grass Courts to Central Park

Over four days from June 26–29, 2026, more than 14,000 fans gathered to experience the pageantry of The Championships without leaving Manhattan. The centerpiece featured real turf harvested and maintained by Wimbledon’s own groundskeeping staff, providing a playing surface rarely seen outside the United Kingdom. The weekend kicked off with a high-profile invitational match featuring tennis legends Andre Agassi, Caroline Wozniacki, James Blake, and Eugenie Bouchard, who tested the court’s surface in a friendly doubles exhibition.

Beyond the exhibition matches, the event offered public access to tennis clinics and traditional tournament refreshments like Pimm's and Eton Mess. The activation culminated on Monday with a live viewing party where attendees watched Jannik Sinner’s opening-day title defense on a thirty-foot LED screen. Frank Moran, founder of The Experiential Group, noted that the initiative has grown significantly since its inception at Brooklyn Bridge Park, aiming to replicate the specific heritage and atmosphere of the London tournament for a New York audience. The agency managed all logistical aspects of the installation, from the custom grass court construction to the integration of grandstands and broadcast technology, cementing the partnership’s role in expanding the Wimbledon brand’s reach in the United States.
