Scaling Digital Resilience
Beyond immediate tactical support, the program is integrating advanced research from Vanderbilt University. By utilizing digital twins of water infrastructure, researchers are training AI-driven agents through the DARPA CASTLE program to detect and neutralize breaches in real time. This technical leap, backed by seed funding from figures like Craig Newmark, marks a shift toward proactive defense. Having already piloted efforts across seven states including Arizona and Wyoming, the organization is now expanding its reach to Maryland to secure systems supporting military and intelligence assets. The initiative acts as a form of cyber civil defense, moving beyond policy rhetoric to embed volunteer hackers directly into the trenches of critical infrastructure.
