STARCARES Upgrades University of Lagos Medical Campus Basketball Court

In Idi-Araba, Surulere, the College of Medicine at the University of Lagos has unveiled a renovated basketball court, providing 2,000 future healthcare professionals with a dedicated space for recreation. The project, led by the STARTRADER community initiative STARCARES, aims to offer students a physical outlet from their rigorous medical training.

The redevelopment effort replaced aging infrastructure with a modernized playing surface, new benches, and updated equipment. Beyond the physical improvements, the space includes jerseys and facilities intended to foster teamwork and community connection among the 1,850 staff and thousands of students currently enrolled at the institution.

Since its founding in 1962, the College has grown into a primary training ground for doctors, dentists, and allied health professionals. Peter Karsten, CEO of STARTRADER, noted that the initiative aligns with the firm's belief that academic ambition requires environments that allow students to reset and recharge. The court, developed under the banner "Where Tomorrow STARs Begin," was officially handed over to the campus community following a series of ceremonies, marking its immediate transition into a hub for student life.
